Small Scale Alcohol Production in Local Communities

I was recently contacted by one David Chu, PE, who is the author of the article, "Liquid Sunshine," about small scale renewable alcohol and organic food production in local communities.

Mr. Chu said, "There are quite a few myths about alcohol fuel or ethanol perpetrated by Big Oil in the lamestream mass media, some of which are addressed in th[e] article."

Definitely worth a read from a survival and self-sufficiency perspective, folks. Check it out.

Root Cellars Are Making a Comeback

Rainy Day Root Cellars announces the release of an engineered, underground storage facility that can be delivered anywhere in the United States.

Rainy Day Root Cellars have been designed to fill a need for practical, safe and secure storage of food and water supplies, important papers, firearms and ammunition, sensitive files, etc.

These cellars are pre-engineered and delivered to your property in a very timely manner, usually within 6 weeks of the deposit being placed, often under four weeks. Once installed, you and your family will have the assurance of a very secure, climate-regulated storage. Food storage is one of the most important safety factors a family can have. Is your basement secure? What happens if a tornado or strong storm tears away the first floor? What happens if fire rages through the area around your house, is your present storage location capable of standing up to fires?

It is estimated that a year supply of food for a family of four will cost around $15,000.00. How much is the storage area worth? Does your basement or garage or attic maintain a constant temperature in winter and summer? Is your garage secure from fire, gas fumes, or thieves? Is your food in your basement? What happens if your water heater floods or your drains back up?

Rainy Day Root Cellars will maintain your storage at the recommended optimum temperature range to get the most of your foods shelf life. They stay cool in the summer and above freezing in the winter. If a two-room model is chosen, one room can be kept warmer or cooler than the other simply by adjusting the air intake vent in either room.

Steel cellar doors are utilized on the outside of the structure. Steel, cast in place doors are used to provide maximum security into the cellar area itself. That means a minimum of two lockable steel doors for added security. The walls, floor and ceiling are reinforced concrete. All the joints are sealed inside and out for waterproofing. Pipe penetrations are sealed inside and out. You will not find a better system anywhere to protect your family’s resources.

What good is all the food storage in the world, if it is not kept safe and secure from the elements or thieves? Rainy Day Root Cellars will ensure that your storage will be there when it’s needed most.

The History and Future of Pandemics

The History and Future of Pandemics | Health Training Guide: "Without a doubt, a pandemic is a serious – and usually deadly – disease outbreak at a global level. In fact, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) states that 'another influenza pandemic is highly likely, if not inevitable'. The word pandemic, itself, comes from the Latin word Pan which means across or all, and the Greek word Demos which refers to a population or people. Thus, pandemic refers to a disease that spreads across to many people in a region, continent or even the world..."

America 1950 vs. America 2012

America 1950 vs. America 2012: "Would you rather live in the America of 1950 or the America of 2012? Has the United States changed for the better over the last 62 years? Many fondly remember the 1950s and the 1960s as the 'golden age' of America. We emerged from World War II as the wealthiest and most powerful nation on the planet. During that time period, just about anyone that wanted to get a job could find a job and the U.S. middle class expanded rapidly. Back in 1950, America was still considered to be a 'land of opportunity' and the economy was growing like crazy. There was less crime, there was less divorce, the American people had much less debt and the world seemed a whole lot less crazy. Most of the rest of the world deeply admired us and wanted to be more like us. Of course there were a lot of things that were not great about America back in 1950, and there are many things that many of us dearly love that we would have to give up in order to go back and live during that time. For example, there was no Internet back in 1950. Instead of being able to go online and read the articles that you want to read, your news would have been almost entirely controlled by the big media companies of the day. So there are definitely some advantages that we have today that they did not have back in 1950. But not all of the changes have been for the better. America is in a constant state of change, and many are deeply concerned about where all of these changes are taking us.

There has never been any society in the history of the world that has been perfect. America was flawed in 1950 just as America is flawed today.

But that doesn't mean that we should not reflect on how much things have changed over the past 62 years..."

11 Reasons To Get Your Kids Out Of The Government Schools

11 Reasons To Get Your Kids Out Of The Government Schools: "It should be painfully obvious to everyone by now that it is time to get all of our kids out of the government schools. The public school system in the United States has been dramatically declining for a long time, and in most areas of the country the public schools are open sewers at this point. Yes, there are some U.S. public schools that are still very good and that do a decent job of preparing our young people for their adult lives. But those good schools are the exception to the rule. Hopefully the school shooting that just happened in Ohio will be a wake up call to millions of parents out there. Drugs, sex and violence are rampant in American public schools today. The 'teachers' are endlessly pushing specific political and social agendas down the throats of our kids, and the skills that our children really need such as reading, writing and mathematics are often badly neglected. Hopefully we can get more parents educated about what is really going on in these schools. After all, why would any parents want to send their children into an environment that is going to be highly destructive for them for six to eight hours a day?..."

Letter RE: "Post-EMP Boat Escape"

Reader Anthony K. from Bellingham, WA recently emailed with an interesting question: "Our bug out location is in the San Juan Islands and the ferries will obviously be down with an emp or dangerous social conditions. We have a rubber raft with oars but will need to travel 30 or more miles over open water possibly in inclement weather. Are outboard engines operable after emp or are there alternatives? I would appreciate your input."

As someone with no boating experience, I wasn't sure if an outboard engine would suffer the same effects as a car engine during an EMP. I did a little digging, though, and I believe any small outboard engines, lawnmower engines (2 or 4-stroke) would be okay. The reason being, simplified, is that EMP only fries integrated circuits and fuses. Older engines aren't computer driven, so I think they would still run.

55 Interesting Facts About The U.S. Economy In 2012

55 Interesting Facts About The U.S. Economy In 2012: "How is the U.S. economy doing in 2012? Unfortunately, it is not doing nearly as well as the mainstream media would have you believe. Yes, things have stabilized for the moment but this bubble of false hope will not last for long. The long-term trends that are ripping our economy and our financial system to shreds continue unabated. When you step back and look at the broader picture, it is hard to deny that we are in really bad shape and that things are rapidly getting worse. Later on in this article you will find a list of interesting facts that show the true state of the U.S. economy. Hopefully many of you will find this list to be a useful tool that you can share with your family and friends. Each day the foundations of our economy crumble a little bit more, and we need to wake up as many Americans as we can to what is really going on while there is still time. We have accumulated way too much debt, we consume far more wealth than we produce, millions of our jobs are being shipped overseas, our big cities are decaying, family budgets are being squeezed more than ever, poverty is rampant and we have raised several generations of Americans that expect the government to fix all of their problems. The U.S. economy is at a crossroads, and the decisions that the American people make in 2012 are going to be incredibly important.

The statistics listed [at above link] are presented without much commentary. They pretty much speak for themselves..."

Buying The Vote: 12 Facts About Super PACs That Will Blow Your Mind

Buying The Vote: 12 Facts About Super PACs That Will Blow Your Mind: "In American politics, it takes an enormous amount of money to win campaigns, and the rise of the "Super PACs" is allowing the wealthy to exert even more influence over the political process than they did before. When you examine the results of federal elections over the past several decades, you quickly discover that the candidate that raises the most money almost always wins. Wealthy individuals are limited by law as to how much money they can give directly to a political campaign, but there are no limits on how much money they can give to Super PACs. During the 2012 election season, some of these Super PACs actually have more money than the campaigns of the candidates that they support do. Buying the vote is not illegal in America, and these Super PACs are buying huge amounts of advertising in key states. Unfortunately, most Americans have never learned to think for themselves. Instead, they let the television do much of their thinking for them. If their trusted friend, the television, tells them to vote a certain way, then that is what they are likely to do..."

10 Signs That America Is Decomposing Right In Front Of Our Eyes

10 Signs That America Is Decomposing Right In Front Of Our Eyes: "The decay of society is so much harder to quantify than economic decline is. The government keeps lots of statistics on things like unemployment and inflation, but it really does not keep track of how sick and twisted people are becoming. Most of us recognize that the character of the American people has changed dramatically over the decades, but unlike the national debt, you can't easily point to a chart or a graph to show exactly how bad things are getting... America is becoming a truly frightening place. Our cities our decaying, thieves are becoming bolder, you never know who you can trust and everyone seems depressed. America is decomposing right in front of our eyes, and it is time that we all admitted it.

In the old days, if you met a stranger out on the streets you knew that you could almost certainly trust that person. But these days if you let your child wander one aisle over while you are shopping at Wal-Mart there is a chance that someone will try to abduct her.

Something has changed.

In our major cities, if you walk up to someone at random there is a decent chance that person will be a pervert or a sicko, and most Americans know that this is true at a gut level. Almost everyone is very leery of "strangers" these days. It has gotten to the point where we are all afraid of one another.

Just try this some time....

In a major U.S. city, walk right up to people on the street, look them in the eyes and try to introduce yourself.

What will happen when you do that?

In many instances, people will literally run away from you.

We are scared to death to interact with people that we do not know, and the reality is that those fears are way too often justified.

The character of the American people is decaying at a rapid pace, and the evidence of this is all around us..."

The Price Of Gas Is Outrageous – And It Is Going To Go Even Higher

The Price Of Gas Is Outrageous – And It Is Going To Go Even Higher: "Does it cost you hundreds of dollars just to get to work each month? If it does, you are certainly not alone. There are millions of other Americans in the exact same boat. In recent years, the price of gas in the United States has gotten so outrageous that it has played a major factor in where millions of American families have decided to live and in what kind of vehicles they have decided to purchase. Many Americans that have very long commutes to work end up spending thousands of dollars on gas a year. So when the price of gas starts going up to record levels, people like that really start to feel it. But the price of gas doesn't just affect those that drive a lot. The truth is that the price of gas impacts each and every one of us. Almost everything that we buy has to be transported, and when the price of gasoline goes up the cost of shipping goods also rises. The U.S. economy has been structured around cheap oil. It was assumed that we would always be able to transport massive quantities of goods over vast distances very inexpensively. Once that paradigm totally breaks down, we are going to be in a huge amount of trouble. For the moment, the big concern is the stress that higher gas prices are going to put on the budgets of ordinary American families. Unfortunately, almost everyone agrees that in the short-term the price of gas is going to go even higher..."

18 Statistics That Prove That The Economy Has Not Improved Since Barack Obama Became President

18 Statistics That Prove That The Economy Has Not Improved Since Barack Obama Became President: "Has the economy improved since Barack Obama became the president of the United States? Of course not. Despite what you may be hearing in the mainstream media, the truth is that when you compare the U.S. economy on the day that Barack Obama was inaugurated to the U.S. economy today, there is really no comparison. The unemployment crisis is worse than it was then, home values have fallen, the cost of health insurance is up, the cost of gas is way up, the number of Americans living in poverty has soared and the size of our national debt has absolutely exploded. Anyone that believes that things are better than they were when Barack Obama was elected is simply being delusional. Yes, things have stabilized somewhat and our economy is not in free fall mode at this point. But don't be fooled. This bubble of false hope will be short-lived. The problems we are seeing develop in Europe will erupt into another full-fledged global financial crisis and economic conditions in the United States will get even worse. When that happens, what possible 'economic solutions' will Barack Obama have for us? We never even came close to recovering from the last great financial crisis, and now something potentially even worse is staring us in the face. This is not a great time to have a total lack of leadership in Washington..."

20 Signs You Might Be A Typical American Worker

20 Signs You Might Be A Typical American Worker: "Once upon a time, anyone that was relatively competent and willing to work hard could go out and easily get a job that would enable that person to financially support a family. Unfortunately, that is simply no longer true anymore. Well paying 'middle income jobs' are being rapidly replaced with "low income jobs" and part-time jobs. As the economy crumbles, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the typical American worker to survive from month to month. The number of companies that provide benefits such as health insurance has fallen steadily over the past ten years, and paychecks have not been keeping up with the rising prices of food and gas. Average American families are seeing their budgets squeezed like never before, and many of them are going into huge amounts of debt in order to make up the difference. Sadly, this is a problem that has developed over an extended period of time and that is not going to be reversed overnight. Over the past four decades, the ratio of wages and salaries to GDP in America has fallen dramatically. The typical American worker is not as valued as much as he or she used to be, and if current trends continue even more of us will be working part-time jobs or 'low income jobs' in the years ahead..."

A Warning Sign For The World

A Warning Sign For The World: "Any financial system that is based on debt is doomed to fail. Today, we are living in the greatest debt bubble that the world has ever seen, and if all of a sudden people could not use credit to buy things our economy would immediately ground to a halt. Unfortunately, no debt bubble can last forever. When this current debt bubble finally bursts, faith in the financial system is going to disappear, credit is going to freeze up and there is going to be a massive wave of bank failures. Right now, Greece is a warning sign for the world. Nobody wants to lend money to Greece, the Greek banking system is dying, one out of every four businesses has already shut down, unemployment is soaring and the Greek economy has now been in recession for five years in a row. Sadly, the economic implosion in Greece is rapidly accelerating. The Greek economy shrunk at a 7 percent annual rate during the 4th quarter of 2011. That wasn't supposed to happen. Things were supposed to be getting better in Greece by now. But instead the Greek depression is getting even worse, and very soon the rest of the world is going to be going through what Greece is currently experiencing.

Unfortunately, most in the mainstream media are treating what is happening in Greece as an 'isolated incident' rather than as a very serious warning sign for the world..."

25 Signs That The Nazification Of America Is Almost Complete

25 Signs That The Nazification Of America Is Almost Complete: "The United States of America is becoming more like Nazi Germany every single day. In fact, the Nazification of America is almost complete. The parallels between Nazi Germany and the United States of today are going to absolutely shock many of you. Most Americans simply have never learned what life was really like back in Nazi Germany. Under Adolf Hitler, Germany was a Big Brother totalitarian police state that ruthlessly repressed freedom and individual liberty. Under Adolf Hitler, Germany adopted socialism, dramatically increased government spending and raised taxes to astronomical levels. Under Adolf Hitler, abortion became legal in Germany, the government took over health care and Christianity was pushed out of the public schools and out of public life. To prove all of these points, I am going to use extensive quotes from two sources. Kitty Werthmann was a child living a peaceful life in Austria when Hitler took over her nation. Her eyewitness accounts about what life was like under Nazi Germany are invaluable. In addition, I will also be quoting extensively from author Bruce Walker. He is the author of a book entitled 'The Swastika Against The Cross: The Nazi War On Christianity', and during his years of research he has uncovered some absolutely jaw dropping stuff. After reading the information in the rest of this article, there should be no doubt that the United States is becoming just like Nazi Germany.

Nazi Germany shows us what happens when the state becomes god. Adolf Hitler was certainly more racist than the leaders of America are today, but other than that there are very few differences between the road that Adolf Hitler led Germany down and the path that the United States is being led down.
[Emphasis Mine]

The following are 25 signs that the Nazification of America is almost complete..."

Many Of You Will Not Believe Some Of The Things Americans Are Doing Just To Survive

Many Of You Will Not Believe Some Of The Things Americans Are Doing Just To Survive: "You might not want to read this article if you have a weak stomach. Most Americans have absolutely no idea what is going on in the dark corners of America, and when people find out the truth it can come as quite a shock. Many of you will not believe some of the things Americans are doing just to survive. Some families are living in sewers and drain tunnels, some families are living in tents, some families are living in their cars, some families will make ketchup soup for dinner tonight and some families are even eating rats. Some homeless shelters in America are so overloaded that they are actually sending people out to live in the woods. As you read this, there are close to 50 million Americans that are living below the poverty line, and that number rises a little bit more every single day. America was once known as the greatest nation on earth, but now there is decay and economic despair almost everywhere you look. Yes, money certainly cannot buy happiness, but the lack of it sure can bring a lot of pain. As the economy continues to decline, the suffering that we see all around us is going to get a lot worse, and that is a very frightening thing to think about..."

20 Things We Can Learn About The Future Of America From The Death Of Detroit

20 Things We Can Learn About The Future Of America From The Death Of Detroit: "Do you want to know what the future of America is going to look like? Just check out what is happening to Detroit. The city of Detroit was once one of the greatest industrial cities in the history of the world, but today it is a rotting, decaying, post-apocalyptic hellhole. Nearly half the men are unemployed, nearly half the population is functionally illiterate, more than half of the children are living in poverty and the city government is drowning in debt. As economic conditions have gotten worse, crime has absolutely exploded. Every single night in Detroit there are frightening confrontations between desperate criminals and exasperated homeowners. Unfortunately, the police force in Detroit has been dramatically reduced in size. When the police in Detroit are called, they often show up very late if they even show up at all. Detroit has become a lawless hellhole where violence is the currency of the streets. If you want to survive in Detroit, you better be ready to fight because there are hordes of desperate criminals that are quite eager to take literally everything that you have got. But don't look down on Detroit too much, because what is happening in Detroit will soon be happening all over America..."

Why Are Record Numbers Of Young Adults Jobless And Living At Home With Mom And Dad?

Why Are Record Numbers Of Young Adults Jobless And Living At Home With Mom And Dad?: "In the United States today, unemployment among those age 18 to age 34 is at epidemic levels and the number of young adults that are now living at home with Mom and Dad is at an all-time high. So why are so many of our young adults jobless? Why are record numbers of them unable or unwilling to move out on their own? Well, there are quite a few factors at work. Number one, our education system has completely and totally failed them. As I have written about previously, our education system is a joke and most high school graduates these days are simply not prepared to function at even a very basic level in our society. In addition, college education in the United States has become a giant money making scam that leaves scores of college graduates absolutely drowning in debt. Many young adults end up moving back in with Mom and Dad because they are drowning in so much debt that there are no other options. Thirdly, the number of good jobs continues to decline and this is hitting younger Americans the hardest. Millions of young people enter the workforce excited about the future only to find that there are hordes of applicants for the very limited number of decent jobs that are actually available. So all of this is creating an environment where more young adults are financially dependent on their parents that ever before in modern American history..."

This Is What An Economic Depression Looks Like In The 21st Century

This Is What An Economic Depression Looks Like In The 21st Century: "Do you want to see what a 21st century economic depression looks like? Just look at Greece. Once upon a time, the Greek economy was thriving, the Greek government was borrowing money like there was no tomorrow and Greek citizens were thoroughly enjoying the bubble of false prosperity that all that debt created. Those that warned that Greece was headed for a financial collapse were laughed at and were called 'doom and gloomers'. Well, nobody is laughing now. You see, the truth is that debt is a very cruel master. Greeks were able to live way beyond their means for many, many years but eventually a day of reckoning arrived. At this point, the Greek economy has been in a recession for five years in a row, and the economic crisis in that country is rapidly getting even worse. It was just recently announced that the overall rate of unemployment in Greece has soared above 20 percent and the youth unemployment rate has risen to an astounding 48 percent. One out of every five retail stores has been shut down and parents are literally abandoning children in the streets. The frightening thing is that this is just the beginning. Things are going to get a lot worse in Greece. And in case you haven't been paying attention, these kinds of conditions are coming to the United States as well. We are heading down the exact same road as Greece went down, and the economic pain that this country is eventually going to suffer is going to be beyond anything that most Americans would dare to imagine..."

Preschooler’s Homemade Lunch Replaced with Cafeteria “Nuggets”

Sadly, the bell seems truly to be tolling for freedom in this once great nation.

Preschooler’s Homemade Lunch Replaced with Cafeteria “Nuggets” - Mr. Conservative: "A preschooler at West Hoke Elementary School ate three chicken nuggets for lunch Jan. 30 because a state employee told her the lunch her mother packed was not nutritious.

The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the agent who was inspecting all lunch boxes in her More at Four classroom that day..."

Barack Obama: Let’s Steal 150 Million Dollars An Hour From Our Children

Barack Obama: Let’s Steal 150 Million Dollars An Hour From Our Children: "Do you think that someone could steal 150 million dollars and get away with it? Well, the truth is that such a theft is taking place every single hour of every single day. The federal government is stealing 150 million dollars an hour from our children and our grandchildren and Barack Obama thinks that is a good thing. The new Obama budget projects a $1.33 trillion federal budget deficit for the 2012 fiscal year. That is significantly higher than the $1.15 trillion that the Congressional Budget Office was projecting because it includes a whole bunch of stimulus spending that the Obama administration plans to do. So let's do a little math. When you divide $1.33 trillion by 365 days, you get 3.6438356 billion dollars. So on average, the United States will be adding more than 3.6 billion dollars to the national debt every single day during fiscal 2012. And when you divide $3.6438356 billion by 24 hours, you get 151.8 million dollars. So on average, the U.S. national debt will be going up by more than 151 million dollars every single hour during fiscal 2012 if Obama has his way. This is a theft from our children and our grandchildren that is so vast that it is almost unimaginable.

The 2012 budget deficit that the Obama administration is projecting would be equivalent to approximately 8.5 percent of GDP. We simply cannot afford to be running these kinds of outrageous budget deficits year after year.

At the moment, the U.S. national debt is sitting at a grand total of $15,355,838,921,022.16. That is an amount that is so large that it is hard to even put into words.

At this point our national debt is greater than 100% of our national GDP. We are on the road to national financial disaster and yet our politicians keep piling up debt at a rate that is absolutely mind blowing.

The Obama administration is projecting that budget deficits will go down 'in the future', but that is what our politicians always do. They always promise that the budget picture will improve 'down the road', but that never actually happens.

According to the Bush administration, we were supposed to be swimming in huge budget surpluses by now.

So how did that work out?

Our politicians always promise to cut spending, but it never actually comes to pass..."

Was Whitney Houston Killed By Prescription Drugs Like So Many Other Celebrities Have Been?

Was Whitney Houston Killed By Prescription Drugs Like So Many Other Celebrities Have Been? :: "Why is it that almost every time a celebrity under the age of 50 dies we find out that prescription drugs were involved? The official test results will not be released for weeks, but already there is a growing body of evidence that Whitney Houston was killed by prescription drugs just like so many other celebrities have been. In recent years, we have seen prescription drugs play a significant role in the deaths of Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger, Brittany Murphy and Anna Nicole Smith. Two of the most famous celebrities of the 20th century, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley, died with very high levels of prescription drugs in their systems. So when is the mainstream media going to start telling us the truth about the dangers of prescription drugs? According to the CDC, approximately 750,000 Americans are rushed to the emergency room each year because of reactions to prescription drugs. At least 200,000 Americans each year end up dying from reactions to prescription drugs. Unfortunately, the big pharmaceutical companies spend billions of dollars advertising their pills in the mainstream media, so the mainstream media has a very strong incentive to cover up the truth. But hopefully the death of Whitney Houston will get more Americans to wake up and realize that prescription drugs can be very, very deadly..."

Debt Slavery: 30 Facts About Debt In America That Will Blow Your Mind

Debt Slavery: 30 Facts About Debt In America That Will Blow Your Mind: "When most people think about America's debt problem, they think of the debt of the federal government. But that is only part of the story. The sad truth is that debt slavery has become a way of life for tens of millions of American families. Over the past several decades, most Americans have willingly allowed themselves to become enslaved to debt. These days, most of us are busy either going into even more debt or paying off the debt that we have accumulated in the past. When your finances are dominated by debt, it makes it really hard to ever get ahead. Incredibly, 43 percent of all American families spend more than they earn each year. Even while median household income continues to decline (now less than $50,000 a year), median household debt continues to go up. According to the Federal Reserve, median household debt in America has risen to $75,600. Many Americans spend decades caught in the trap of debt slavery. Large numbers of them never even escape at all and die in debt. It can be a lot of fun to spend lots of money and go into lots of debt, but it can be absolutely soul crushing to toil and labor for years paying off those debts while making others wealthy in the process. Hopefully this article will inspire many people to try to escape the chains of debt slavery once and for all..."

10 Things That Every American Should Know About The Federal Reserve

10 Things That Every American Should Know About The Federal Reserve: "What would happen if the Federal Reserve was shut down permanently? That is a question that CNBC asked recently, but unfortunately most Americans don't really think about the Fed much. Most Americans are content with believing that the Federal Reserve is just another stuffy government agency that sets our interest rates and that is watching out for the best interests of the American people. But that is not the case at all. The truth is that the Federal Reserve is a private banking cartel that has been designed to systematically destroy the value of our currency, drain the wealth of the American public and enslave the federal government to perpetually expanding debt..."

Why Is Global Shipping Slowing Down So Dramatically?

Why Is Global Shipping Slowing Down So Dramatically?: "If the global economy is not heading for a recession, then why is global shipping slowing down so dramatically? Many economists believe that measures of global shipping such as the Baltic Dry Index are leading economic indicators. In other words, they change before the overall economic picture changes. For example, back in early 2008 the Baltic Dry Index began falling dramatically. There were those that warned that such a rapid decline in the Baltic Dry Index meant that a significant recession was coming, and it turned out that they were right. Well, the Baltic Dry Index is falling very rapidly once again. In fact, on February 3rd the Baltic Dry Index reached a low that had not been seen since August 1986. Some economists say that there are unique reasons for this (there are too many ships, etc.), but when you add this to all of the other indicators that Europe is heading into a recession, a very frightening picture emerges. We appear to be staring a global economic slowdown right in the face, and we all need to start getting prepared for that..."

Gay Marriage

Recently, Washington state lawmakers passed a bill, setting the stage for that state to become the seventh in the nation to allow same-sex couples to get married. I typically make it a point to stay out of debates with religious undertones. I admit this is partially because it makes for such a polarizing situation and many in the Survivalist/Prepper subculture are very religious people. It's not exactly considered wise for a blogger to risk alienating his readership, but I feel the need to clarify my position on this issue.

Let's be crystal clear on something: I don't give a crap about gay marriage... or straight marriage, for that matter. And neither should you, because unless you're in it, it isn't your business. In fact, I don't believe the government ought to be involved in marriage at all.

Marriage should be a religious institution only; straight or gay, if you can find a church willing to marry you, have at it. Then, in my world, you would file for a completely separate domestic partnership to change your legal status with the government, should you so choose. Conversely, if I wanna move in with my brother and file a domestic partnership, I should be perfectly within my rights to do so. It isn't the government's business who I choose as a life partner.

Now, I know this is gonna rub some folks the wrong way because of some stuff in the Bible that says being gay is wrong. But, if you're a Christian and you believe that then you're reading from the wrong book; you're supposed to be living under "The Grace," not "The Law" and I don't recall Jesus having much to say on the subject. So, unless you're an Orthodox Jew, the religious argument holds no water -- you either need to re-examine your beliefs or just go ahead and wrap your head around the fact that you're really just a bigot. Luckily, we live in a country where folks have died to afford you the freedom to be a bigot, but let's not be hypocritical and try to blame it on God.

And, even if you do consider it to be immoral, I would argue that it is not the government's role to legislate morality; if you disagree, then you're far too comfortable having "The Man's" nose in your business than I will ever be.

People are free to believe any absurd mess they want to believe, but the government should have no dog in the fight. Every hour they spend debating and drawing-up Bills and briefs and Lord knows what else and every bit of ink and paper they use is being paid-for (including their salaries and the salaries of their staffs) with taxpayer dollars to deal with an issue that the government shouldn't even be involved in. There are real problems in this world going unsolved because public servants can't stop obsessing over whether it's okay for Joe Bob and Pete to tie the knot. Who cares! And I'm a Conservative, saying this.

Further, the country I was raised in believes in equal protections and equal rights *FOR ALL AMERICANS EVERYWHERE* -- no exceptions. I see this as being no different than when bigoted individuals tried to curtail the rights of blacks and women before that. People have the right to be close-minded bigots; they *DO NOT* have the right to turn their prejudices into law. That's why I nearly flip my lid whenever people talk about trying to pass a Constitutional Amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman -- that mess doesn't belong anywhere near the Constitution.

That document isn't supposed to tell us what rights we have; we have our rights from the moment we first come into existence. The purpose of the Constitution was to place limits on what the government is allowed to do in relation to those rights. We are all sovereign entities with the right to live however and to do whatever we want as long as we don't stray into activities that impede the rights of anyone else.

I fully expect to lose some readers after this. I hope I'm wrong, but so be it. I'm concerned with individual liberty as the Founders intended, not political games that are ultimately only thrown-out to distract and divide us in the first place.

Yes, It Is Halftime In America – So Now Is The Time To Get Your Financial Priorities In Order

Yes, It Is Halftime In America – So Now Is The Time To Get Your Financial Priorities In Order: "Did you see the Chrysler commercial featuring Clint Eastwood that aired during the Super Bowl the other night? It was entitled 'It's Halftime In America', and it was truly a great ad. To me, it was the most memorable Super Bowl ad this year by far. It conjured up images of the America that so many of us remember so fondly. It reminded us of how life in this country used to be. Unfortunately, America is currently headed down a road that is taking us in the opposite direction. Yes, it is halftime in America, but there is no guarantee that what is ahead is going to be great. In fact, if we continue to make the same choices that we have been making, a national nightmare is inevitable. Let us hope and pray for a fundamental change of direction for America, but let us also prepare for what is going to happen if that does not take place. There is a 'pause in the action' at the moment, so now is the time to get your financial priorities in order. Now is the time to prepare for the storm that is coming. If you wait until the storm is right on top of you it will probably be too late..."

The Financial Crisis Of 2008 Was Just A Warm Up Act For The Economic Horror Show That Is Coming

The Financial Crisis Of 2008 Was Just A Warm Up Act For The Economic Horror Show That Is Coming: "The people out there that believe that the U.S. economy is experiencing a permanent recovery and that very bright days are ahead for us should have their heads examined... Things may seem relatively stable right now, but it won't last long. The truth is that the financial crisis of 2008 was just a warm up act for the economic horror show that is coming. Nothing really got fixed after the crash of 2008. We are living in the biggest debt bubble in the history of the world, and it has gotten even bigger since then. The 'too big to fail' banks are larger now than they have ever been. Americans continue to run up credit card balances like there is no tomorrow. Tens of thousands of manufacturing facilities and millions of jobs continue to leave the country. We continue to consume far more than we produce and we continue to become poorer as a nation. None of the problems that caused the crisis of 2008 have been solved and we are even weaker financially than we were back then. So why in the world are so many people so optimistic about the economy right now?..."

I Can’t Take It Anymore! When Will The Government Quit Putting Out Fraudulent Employment Statistics?

I Can’t Take It Anymore! When Will The Government Quit Putting Out Fraudulent Employment Statistics?: "On Friday, the entire financial world celebrated when it was announced that the unemployment rate in the United States had fallen to 8.3 percent. That is the lowest it has been since February 2009, and it came as an unexpected surprise for financial markets that are hungry for some good news. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nonfarm payrolls jumped by 243,000 during the month of January. You can read the full employment report right here. Based on this news, pundits all over the world were declaring that the U.S. economy is back. Stocks continued to rise on Friday and the Dow is hovering near a 4 year high. So does this mean that our economic problems are over? Of course not. A closer look at the numbers reveals just how fraudulent these employment statistics really are. Between December 2011 and January 2012, the number of Americans 'not in the labor force' increased by a whopping 1.2 million. That was the largest increase ever in that category for a single month. That is how the federal government is getting the unemployment rate to go down. The government is simply pretending that huge numbers of unemployed Americans don't want to be part of the labor force anymore. As you will see below, the employment situation in America is not improving. Yet everyone in the mainstream media is dancing around as if the economic crisis has been cancelled. I can't take it anymore! It is beyond ridiculous that so many intelligent people continue to buy in to such fraudulent numbers..."

According To The FBI, Internet Privacy Is Now Considered To Be Suspicious Activity

According To The FBI, Internet Privacy Is Now Considered To Be Suspicious Activity: "When you use the Internet in a public place, do you prefer to have as much privacy as possible? Well, that makes you a potential terrorist. According to the FBI, Internet privacy is now considered to be suspicious activity. If you are out in public and you attempt to keep snoopers from peeking at your computer screen, then according to the FBI they should gather as much information about you as they can and they should report you to the authorities immediately. If this seems completely and totally ridiculous to you, then you are not alone. Millions of Americans have become deeply concerned about the constantly expanding definition of 'suspicious activity' in the United States. Sadly, the federal government is now engaging in an all-out attempt to have us all spy on one another..."

The Federal Reserve's Explicit Goal: Devalue The Dollar 33%

The Federal Reserve's Explicit Goal: Devalue The Dollar 33% - Forbes: "The Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (FOMC) has made it official: After its latest two day meeting, it announced its goal to devalue the dollar by 33% over the next 20 years. The debauch of the dollar will be even greater if the Fed exceeds its goal of a 2 percent per year increase in the price level.

An increase in the price level of 2% in any one year is barely noticeable. Under a gold standard, such an increase was uncommon, but not unknown. The difference is that when the dollar was as good as gold, the years of modest inflation would be followed, in time, by declining prices. As a consequence, over longer periods of time, the price level was unchanged. A dollar 20 years hence was still worth a dollar.

But, an increase of 2% a year over a period of 20 years will lead to a 50% increase in the price level. It will take 150 (2032) dollars to purchase the same basket of goods 100 (2012) dollars can buy today. What will be called the 'dollar' in 2032 will be worth one-third less (100/150) than what we call a dollar today..."

The United Nations Wants To Crash The World Economy In Order To Save The Environment

The United Nations Wants To Crash The World Economy In Order To Save The Environment: "The United Nations says that the earth is in great danger and that the way you and I are living is the problem. In a shocking new report entitled, 'Resilient People, Resilient Planet: A Future Worth Choosing' the UN declares that the entire way that we currently approach economics needs to be changed. Instead of focusing on things like 'economic growth', the UN is encouraging nations all over the world to start basing measurements of economic success on the goal of achieving 'sustainable development'. But there is a huge problem with that. The UN says that what we are doing right now is 'unsustainable' by definition, and the major industrialized nations of the western world are the biggest culprits. According to the UN, since we are the ones that create the most carbon emissions and the most pollution, we are the ones that should make the biggest sacrifices. In addition, since we have the most money, we should also be willing to finance the transition of the developing world to a 'sustainable development' economy as well..."

19 Crazy Things That School Children Are Being Arrested For In America

19 Crazy Things That School Children Are Being Arrested For In America: "With each passing year, the difference between America's prisons and America's public schools becomes smaller and smaller. As you read the rest of this article, you will be absolutely amazed at some of the crazy things that school children in America are being arrested for. When I was growing up, I don't remember a single police officer ever coming to my school. Discipline was always handled by the teachers and by the principals. But today, there are schools all over the country that have police officers permanently stationed in the halls. Many other schools will call out police officers at the drop of a hat. In the classrooms of America today, if you burp in class, if you spray yourself with perfume or if you doodle on your desk, there is a chance that you will be arrested by the police and hauled out of your school in handcuffs..."

47 Signs That China Is Absolutely Destroying America On The Global Economic Stage

47 Signs That China Is Absolutely Destroying America On The Global Economic Stage: "Have you ever watched a football game or a basketball game where one team dominates the other team so badly that calling it a 'blowout' would be a huge understatement? Well, that is what China is doing to the United States. China is absolutely destroying America on the global economic stage. Once upon a time, the Chinese economy was a joke and the U.S. economy was the most powerful the world had ever seen. But over the past couple of decades the U.S. economy has decayed and declined while the Chinese economy has skyrocketed. Today, China makes more steel, more automobiles, more beer, more cotton, more coal and more solar panels than we do. China has the fastest train in the world, the fastest computer in the world and they export twice as much high-tech equipment as we do..."

Making Money On Poverty: JP Morgan Makes Bigger Profits When The Number Of Americans On Food Stamps Goes Up

Making Money On Poverty: JP Morgan Makes Bigger Profits When The Number Of Americans On Food Stamps Goes Up: "How would you feel if someone told you that one of the largest banks on Wall Street makes more money whenever the number of Americans on food stamps goes up? Unfortunately, this is something that is actually true. In the United States today, one out of every seven Americans is on food stamps. In fact, the number of Americans on food stamps has increased by a whopping 14 million since Barack Obama entered the White House. All of this makes JP Morgan very happy, because JP Morgan has been making money by the boatload on food stamps. Right now, JP Morgan Chase issues food stamp debit cards in 26 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. The division of JP Morgan Chase that issues these debit cards made an eye-popping 5.47 billion dollars in net revenue during 2010. JP Morgan is paid per customer, so when the number of Americans on food stamps goes up, they make more money. But doesn't this give JP Morgan an incentive to try to keep the number of Americans on food stamps as high as possible? Of course it does. JP Morgan is interested in making money as rapidly as possible. If JP Morgan can get more Americans enrolled in the food stamp program and keep them enrolled in it for as long as possible, that is good for business.

And the Obama administration is certainly doing what it can to help out. Even though a whopping 46 million Americans are now on food stamps, the Obama administration plans to give out large amounts of money to organizations that are able figure out ways to get even more people enrolled in the program....

Despite the historic rise in food stamp use, however, the Obama Administration believes not enough people are receiving food stamps who should be and is offering $75,000 grants to groups who devise 'effective strategies' to 'increase program participation' among those who have yet to sign up.

In fact, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says that if we can get even more Americans enrolled in the food stamp program, that will be a great way to "stimulate the economy".

Of course JP Morgan just loves all of this. The more people they have in the system the better..."

20 Signs That Europe Is Plunging Into A Full-Blown Economic Depression

20 Signs That Europe Is Plunging Into A Full-Blown Economic Depression: "An economic nightmare is descending on Europe. With each passing month, the economic numbers across Europe get even worse. At this point it is becoming extremely difficult for anyone to deny that Europe is plunging into a full-blown economic depression. In fact, some parts of Europe are already there. In Spain the overall unemployment rate is over 22 percent, and in Greece one out of every five retail establishments has already been closed down. All over Europe, economic activity is rapidly slowing down, unemployment is skyrocketing and bad debts are unraveling..."

Have You Ever….

Have You Ever….: "Have you ever wondered what our world is going to look like five or ten years down the road? Well, today our world is changing at a pace that is faster than ever before, and the decisions that we all make right now are going to have a dramatic affect on the years ahead. In many ways, 2012 represents a huge turning point for America. There will be a presidential election, 33 seats in the U.S. Senate will be contested and every single seat in the U.S. House of Representatives will be up for grabs. But the changes that are happening in America go much deeper than politics. Anger and frustration are growing to frightening levels, and we have become a deeply divided nation. Our affluence is rapidly crumbling and our national values are being transformed at a staggering pace. America is drowning in debt, addicted to entertainment and full of people that think they know it all. America is arrogant, cocky, smug, brash and full of pride. But if we continue down the road that we are currently on, we will be greatly humbled someday. It is just a matter of time..."
